FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is diabetes coaching and how can it help me?

Diabetes coaching is structured guidance designed to improve glycemic control and long-term metabolic health.

At Sweet Balance, the program is led by Dr. Andy Ho, Doctor of Pharmacy, and integrates medication education, nutrition strategy, exercise physiology, and behavioral coaching.

The goal is to help clients stabilize blood glucose, lower A1C, and build sustainable daily systems for managing diabetes.

How are coaching sessions delivered?

Sessions are conducted through structured virtual consultations, allowing clients to review blood glucose patterns, medication considerations, nutrition strategy, and lifestyle interventions. Limited in-person consultations may be available depending on location.

Initial consultations are 15 minutes, while coaching sessions typically run 30–60 minutes depending on your program tier.

Is this medical care?

No. Sweet Balance provides educational coaching and metabolic health guidance, not direct medical treatment.

Dr. Andy Ho is a Doctor of Pharmacy, meaning he can provide medication education and safety insights related to diabetes care.

However, diagnosis, prescriptions, and clinical treatment decisions remain under the supervision of your primary healthcare provider.

What results can I expect and how quickly do they occur?

Clients often notice improvements in daily blood glucose stability within the first few weeks.

More significant changes in A1C and metabolic markers typically develop over several months, as lifestyle and medication strategies are optimized.

Results vary depending on baseline health, adherence, and individual physiology.

Will this work if I’ve struggled to control my blood sugar before?

Many clients join Sweet Balance after years of difficulty managing their blood sugar despite trying different diets, medications, or exercise programs.

The program focuses on identifying the underlying drivers of glucose instability, including lifestyle patterns, medication timing, and metabolic responses.

By addressing these factors systematically and holistically, many clients begin to see more stable blood glucose patterns and improved confidence in managing their condition.

Who is diabetes coaching suitable for?

Sweet Balance diabetes coaching is designed for people who:

  • have been recently diagnosed with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes

  • struggle with fluctuating blood sugar levels

  • want clearer guidance on how medication, food, and exercise interact

  • feel frustrated with conflicting health advice

  • want structured support to build sustainable habits

Many clients join the program when they want to improve blood sugar control, lower A1C, optimize lifestyle habits, or better understand how medication and daily behaviors interact.

Can diabetes coaching reduce medication?

Some clients are able to reduce medication requirements over time as blood sugar control improves. However, medication adjustments must always be made by your prescribing physician.

How is Sweet Balance different from a typical health coach?

Diabetes management often involves a complex interaction between medication, nutrition, exercise, and daily routines.

Designed by a Doctor of Pharmacy, Sweet Balance coaching incorporates medication education and safety considerations alongside lifestyle strategy.

This means clients receive guidance that considers:

  • how medications affect blood glucose patterns

  • how nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle interact with medication

  • potential risks of hypoglycemia or glucose spikes

  • safe coordination with existing medical care

The program focuses on helping clients make holistic, informed, evidence-based decisions about daily diabetes management, while continuing to work with their primary healthcare provider for medical treatment.

Do I need to have diabetes to join?

Many clients join Sweet Balance with pre-diabetes, insulin resistance, or early blood sugar concerns.

The program is designed to help individuals stabilize blood glucose, prevent diabetes progression, and build sustainable metabolic health habits before complications develop.
